Full-Text PDF Retrieval & Management
Transition smoothly from title and abstract screening to full-text review. Lumina automates open-access retrieval and simplifies PDF uploads.
How Lumina Fetches PDFs Automatically
Once you decide to include a paper based on its title and abstract, you need to read the full text to make a final eligibility decision. Instead of manually searching for every single PDF, Lumina leverages open-access indexes to find them for you.
DOI Extraction
Lumina extracts the digital object identifier (DOI) from your imported references (RIS, NBIB, or CSV).
API Querying
We query open registries like Unpaywall, Crossref, and publisher endpoints to find legitimate open-access versions.
Auto-Attachment
If an open-access PDF is found, it is attached to the paper record immediately, ready for download or view.
Managing Full-Text in Your Project
1. The Full-Text Tab
In your project dashboard, navigate to the "Full Text" tab. This tab lists all papers that have been marked as "Included" (or passed abstract screening) and shows their PDF availability status.
2. Uploading Subscription PDFs
For paywalled articles or studies requiring institutional login, Lumina cannot fetch the PDF automatically. You can retrieve these files through your library database and upload them directly via the Upload button next to the paper row.
